Remember how awesome the Summer of Arcade was? All those amazingly awesome games every single week. Well, unfortunately we won’t be getting that but some amazing new Xbox Live Arcade games were shown at Tokyo Games Show that makes me rather excited. So check them out
First up is Arkanoid Live, set for release in 2009. The game will be a complete overhaul of the amazing original including 120 levels, multiplayer and, of course, some changes to look of the game.
Next is R-Type Dimensions, set for release sometime in Winter this year. This bundles together R-Type and R-Type II into one awesome package with 2-player online co-op, stat tracking, Infinite mode and the ability to play the game in either 2D or 2.5D.
This is by far my favourite announcement. Space Invaders Extreme, the popular DS and PSP game, is set to hit the Arcade next year. I love Space Invaders Extreme and spent so long playing it on my DS. I will probably end up getting it again because I love it! The game will feature exclusive backgrounds, made by Jeff Minter of Space Giraffe fame as well as online play and 4 player co-op. Excited? I know I am!
The final game is another DS port in the form of Meteos Wars, set for Autumn of this year. It’s basically the DS game, but on your 360 with only some minor tweaks to add online multiplayer. Still, it should be awesome!
