Eidos has announced that around 1.5 million copies of Tomb Raider: Underworld have sold worldwide. However oddly it isn’t happy with the results and is blaming the recession and financial problems for lower profits.
“On a global basis our sell through to 31st December, which we estimate at approximately 1.5 million units, is below our internal forecasts, primarily due to a lower start in North America,” Eidos said in there statement.
“In a difficult North American economy we have seen retailers restricting inventory levels and triple-A products being price discounted above our expectation.”
It has lowerered its predicted earnings in-line with the sales performance to between 160 million pounds and 180 million pounds, 20 million less than was predicted first time around.
The price of the game has being cut at retail stores across the UK and worldwide with prices varying from as low as £19.99 to £29.99, a cut from the usual £39.99 RRP.
However it is likely the game would have sold less when sold at full price with one person commenting at Game in Hanley:
“The price of games is great at the moment as it means I can buy more”. So there Edios, stop complaining…thoughts as ever below.
