Minotaurs and china shops never go well together. Put them together and you probably won’t have a china shop by the end of it. The difference with Minotaur China Shop, the new game from Flashbang and Blurst, is that this Minotaur is a respectable business..thing. And this game is fantastic. For starters it’s called Minotaur China Shop. It lets you run your own china shop AS A MINOTAUR! If you can think of anything more amazing, send your answers on a postcard. Secondly, it’s just so much fun.
You play as a Minotaur, poor and lonely; an outcast from mythological society. To pick yourself back up again you open a china shop full of the finest wares in all of Ancient Greece. There’s just one problem. You’re a Minotaur. Did you ever read the story of the Minotaur in the Labyrinth? That guy liked to be angry and mess things up for people. It’s in their nature. So, get your Minotaur angry he’ll just smash seven shades of crap out of every piece of pottery in that place.
Minotaur China Shop is a balance of earning a respectable living and keeping your blind Minotaur rage under control. Luckily, there are two ways to earn money, which can balance these two aspects. Firstly, you could be a respectable sales-Minotaur and sell your fine china to the customers who visit your shop. That, or smash everything to pieces and claim it on insurance.
Obviously, the latter way sounds much more appealing, but really, if you smash everything up on Day 1 things will get a little boring. It is best to sell your china nicely, upgrade your shop and advertising to gain more money than at the last minute smash everything to smithereens. There are only five levels and an ordinary play through will take about 10 minutes, but it is worth causing havoc at the end.
You know the feeling, you’ve tried to be the good guy, you’ve tried your best to keep yourself under control, but then it all gets too much. You knock over a shelf full of plates by accident then all your rage just unleashes at once. The satisfying feeling you get from destroying everything you’ve worked hard for in this game is pure ecstasy of smashing plates and flying arrows. You’re a big clumsy Minotaur so you are eventually going to knock something over, so the rage will ensue eventually.
Minotaur China Shop is essentially the story of a sad Minotaur trying to make his way in the world. This makes for some hilarious moments when your Minotaur just lets rip on everything in sight due to pure anger. You can play it here and the trailer is below for your viewing pleasure.
