Modern Warfare 2 smashed one day record sales for a videogame in the UK.
A staggering 1.23m copies were sold in one day. The previous record was held by Grand Theft Auto IV which sold 631,000 units.
Gross wise, Activision would have made around £47million though those figures could be lower due to price wars between retailers, including some selling at a knock-down £26.
“These first day sales figures are astonishing and clear evidence that videogames are now mainstream in the UK,” said Michael Rawlinson, boss of Chartrack.
We can only presume it’ll be number 1 next week.
