Capcom To Take On Dragons In 2012

Capcom have announced that they are working on a new action-RPG called Dragon’s Dogma. Slated for a 2012 release, early gameplay videos suggest a hybrid of The Elder Scrolls and Monster Hunter.

Following your customized protagonist and their three AI companions hunting dragons, griffons and various other cottage-sized beasties, the game makes use of a unique new “grab” feature. Speaking of this game-changing mechanic, the director of Dragon’s Dogma, Itsuno, says: “In a lot of action games, the tendency with big enemies is to just have you hacking away at the shins. You don’t get the full effect of fighting a giant boss… With this game you can climb all over it. If it has a body part, you can attack it.”

It certainly looks interesting, but with the game apparently only 50% complete at the time of writing this article, Capcom still have time to create something really special.
