Everyones had a glimpse of what Battlefield 3 will look like on release and let’s be honest even at 30fps it’s going to look pretty slick. In a recent interview with EDGE magazine DICE have said that the Frostbite 2 Engine will be modified for single and multiplayer gaming.
Lars Gustavsson the lead multiplayer design at DICE has revealed that the infantry animation will be slightly different in the multiplayer modes in comparison to that of the games campaign.
“In multiplayer, we do an additional pass for animation. In single player you don’t mind if a guard up on a balcony does a Hollywood death – stumbling around a bit before falling over.”
He continued by saying, “In multiplayer it needs to be a one-to-one correlation between action and result.”
This ever so slight tinkering has been brought in to make sure that gamers get the best possible experience when playing online. “We’re more than willing to make differences to deliver the best experience in [single and multiplayer]”.
Don’t worry though, despite the changes the general feel of the game will not change, “Singleplayer and multiplayer both have their own needs, but in the end I feel it’s utterly important that it feels like the same game.”
“There’s no better way of proving your single player run-and-gun experience than seeing what it feels like against a live human opponent.”
Battlefield 3 will be bombing it’s way into stores October 28th.
