Worldwide Xbox 360 sales to retailers have surpassed 80 million units since the system launched in November 2005, according to internal Microsoft data.
Despite switching focus toXbox Onein the run-up to the console’s release next month, Xbox chief marketing and strategy officerYusuf Mehdi saidin September that the company will continue to support Xbox 360 for years to come.
“If you look at Xbox 360 that platform [has] lasted for seven to eight years and it’s going to go for another three years. It’s incredibly profitable now in the tail,” he said.
