Ubisoft has shuttered the Uplay Passport program following uproar over the “locking” of single player content in Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. The Passport “will not be a part of any future Ubisoft games,” the publisher confirmed in a statement today.
Originally, Black Flag had required that the user own a Passport in order to add ships to Edward Kenway’s fleet, an important aspect of the retooled economy. Ergo, those who borrow the game or buy it second-hand would have had to buy a code to access part of the single player.
