Mortal Shell 2 Arrives on PS5 Next Month with Early Access Option

Cold Symmetry has confirmed that Mortal Shell 2, the sequel to its Soulslike title, will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 on 20 August 2026. This release date avoids the crowded September launch schedule, giving the game a clearer window for attention among PS5 players.

Pre-orders for Mortal Shell 2 are now available on the PlayStation Store. The standard edition of the game is priced at £44.99 in the UK and $49.99 in the US. Alongside the base version, the publisher offers a Devout Edition at an additional cost of £5 or $10, which includes three days of early access ahead of the standard launch.

The Devout Edition also features the Obsidian skin set, an exclusive cosmetic that provides each of the eight Shells in Mortal Shell 2 with an alternate outfit. This adds visual variety for players engaging with the core gameplay, which maintains the challenging mechanics typical of the Soulslike genre.

As a follow-up to the original Mortal Shell, Cold Symmetry continues to focus on delivering a demanding action RPG experience tailored for the PS5 hardware. The sequel remains noteworthy for fans of the Soulslike genre on Sony’s platform, given its exclusivity and release timing.

The August release sets Mortal Shell 2 apart from other major releases typically scheduled for September, presenting a strategic launch window that could influence player uptake on PlayStation Plus and other subscription services, although no specific announcements have been made concerning those platforms yet.

With pre-orders live and the release confirmed, PS5 owners interested in Soulslike action have a defined date to anticipate Mortal Shell 2’s arrival on their platform next month.
