GSC Game World has announced that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl’s first downloadable content (DLC), titled Cost of Hope, will launch on 20 August 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
The expansion will be available via digital storefronts including GOG, Epic Games Store and Steam on PC, alongside its release on Xbox and PlayStation platforms. This marks the first major add-on for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 since its initial 2024 launch.
Cost of Hope expands the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 experience on multiple platforms
Players will return as the protagonist Skif, investigating a mysterious PDA signal that initiates a separate storyline running concurrently with the base game. The expansion includes new locations, weapons, and characters, expanding the world and narrative depth of the original release.
Coinciding with this DLC, GSC Game World will issue a free 2.0 update for the base game introducing new content, gameplay improvements, and compatibility enhancements for the latest Unreal Engine 5 version. These updates come after two years of ongoing post-launch support addressing performance and gameplay issues reported at launch.

The announcement confirms the expansion’s availability for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with no indication of support for older consoles. The DLC and update will be downloadable through the standard digital channels across these platforms on 20 August.
