Insomniac Games has released update 1.001.006 for Marvel’s Wolverine on PlayStation 5, bringing new options to disable several scent trail and audio clue mechanics that had sparked player criticism since the game’s launch. The update also resolves multiple bugs affecting the gameplay experience.
The patch introduces three new toggle settings allowing players to turn off scent trails for Whisky Bottles and audio cues tied to Material Crates, as well as toggles for Nightmare Door Roots. These navigation aids have been controversial, with some players expressing that they contributed to the game feeling overly guided. The new settings give players the choice to remove these visual and audio indicators, though story-critical scent trails remain active regardless of toggle state.
In addition to the toggle options, the update addresses a number of technical issues reported by the community. It fixes a bug where Wolverine’s claws would become stuck while sliding down a tree early in the game, as well as a misalignment issue affecting claws in photo mode. The patch also corrects instances of objects turning white after extended gameplay and resolves a UV mapping error causing overlapping bathroom signs in the in-game casino environment.
Insomniac had previously reduced the opacity of story-related scent trails to make them less intrusive, and this patch continues the studio’s efforts to respond to player feedback. Studio representatives reiterated their commitment to monitoring community responses following the update.
Marvel’s Wolverine remains a PlayStation 5 exclusive, having launched on 15 September 2026. This patch is the latest in a series aimed at refining the player experience based on community input since release.
With the new toggle options and various bug fixes now implemented, players have greater control over in-game guidance tools and can expect improved stability during their playthroughs.
