NBA 2K25 Delisting and Server Shutdown Limits Single-Player Access from 2027

Publisher 2K has confirmed NBA 2K25 will be delisted from digital storefronts on October 30, 2026, less than two years after its release in September 2024. The company has also announced that the game’s online servers will be shut down on January 1, 2027.

This move will directly impact players on all platforms offering NBA 2K25, including Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. The shutdown of online servers means multiplayer modes will no longer be accessible, and critically, the game’s single-player story mode MyCareer will become unplayable.

Online Services and MyCareer Mode to End with Server Shutdown

NBA 2K25’s MyCareer mode relies on online connectivity for saving progress and managing the game’s virtual currency, VC. With servers offline, players will lose access to progression, rendering the mode non-functional. Similarly, other online modes such as MyTEAM will also be disabled.

According to 2K’s official statement, modes that do not require online services, including Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA, will remain playable offline. However, features such as Online Leagues, multiplayer, and community sharing will cease to function post-server shutdown.

Delisting and Server Closures Affect Availability and Legacy Content on Consoles

NBA 2K25’s removal continues a recent pattern from 2K of delisting relatively recent entries in the NBA 2K series and terminating their online support within a short lifespan. While this likely reflects the franchise’s yearly release schedule and shifting player base to newer titles, it means players who wish to revisit or continue their progress on older versions face limitations.

For console owners, this delisting restricts the opportunity to digitally purchase NBA 2K25 after October 2026. Those who acquire the game before that date will retain offline access to modes not reliant on servers, but MyCareer and multiplayer experiences will end with server closure.

The delisting also impacts legacy content such as all-star modes and specific multiplayer features tied to earlier NBA 2K titles, many of which are no longer accessible due to similar policies.

2K’s statement highlights the unavoidable conclusion for those invested in NBA 2K25’s online and story modes: these features will effectively expire at the start of 2027, marking an end to their availability on current consoles.
