Razer has officially released the Wolverine V4 Pro, its latest Xbox controller aimed at competitive players, adding new sensor technology and enhanced performance features. The announcement also includes a more affordable Wolverine V4 Tournament Edition. Both controllers are available from October 6.
The Wolverine V4 Pro maintains a similar design to its predecessor, the Wolverine V3 Pro, but introduces capacitive thumbsticks instead of the previous TMR (tunnelling magnetoresistive) sensors. This change results in improved resolution, power efficiency, and resistance to magnetic interference, according to Razer’s technical specifications. The new sensors provide around 3,000 incremental steps of movement, promising smoother tracking and reduced input jitter for more precise control.
One of the significant enhancements for PC users is the controller’s polling rate, which now supports 8,000 Hz, enabling faster input response. However, the Xbox Series X|S consoles remain limited to a 250 Hz polling rate due to platform restrictions beyond Razer’s control. This means players who use both Xbox and PC platforms can benefit from higher performance on PC without switching devices.

The Wolverine V4 Pro also includes six different thumbstick caps and magnetic, removable rear paddles for customisation. Additional bumper buttons are also present, all of which can be remapped using the controller’s onboard profile storage and the Razer Synapse software. The controller also features clicky face buttons and mouse click analogue triggers with minimal latency. Razer has added a new removable faceplate secured by magnets, offering a translucent look when detached, although no custom faceplates have been revealed yet.
Haptic feedback returns in the V4 Pro and can be toggled off according to user preference. Noticeably absent from the package is the storage case previously bundled with Razer’s high-end controllers, which provided organisation for extra thumbsticks and the wireless dongle.
The Wolverine V4 Tournament Edition, priced at $99.99/£99.99, offers many of the V4 Pro’s performance features, including the capacitive sticks and 8,000 Hz PC polling rate, but is wired only. This version lacks removable paddles and the detachable faceplate found on the Pro model but keeps the same overall design language and button layout.
Both the Wolverine V4 Pro and the Tournament Edition are available now from Razer at their listed prices of $199.99/£199.99 and $99.99/£99.99 respectively, providing new options for Xbox and PC players seeking competitive-grade controllers with advanced customisation and input technologies.
