The Coalition has rolled out Ranked Versus mode for Gears of War: E-Day, alongside a sweeping patch that addresses multiple technical issues impacting players across Xbox, PC, and handheld devices. The update arrives as the game continues to perform strongly in sales and reception.
Ranked Versus now allows players to compete in four different playlists: Demolition, Crucible, Conquest, and Team Deathmatch. The Coalition stated these ranked matches feature skill-based placements, although they quickly moved to fix an early bug that caused some players to be incorrectly assigned to skill divisions. This fix aims to ensure fairer rank placements going forward.
Broad Improvements Across Platforms and Modes
The patch targets stability and performance, implementing optimisations and memory improvements to reduce crashes and slowdowns during extended play sessions. It also addresses a variety of account linking and login problems, along with fixes to the Social Menu and friends list functionality. Server-side anti-cheat protections have been enhanced as part of the update.
Visual accessibility options received attention as well, resolving instances where selected colourblind settings failed to display correctly. In both the Campaign and Horde Siege modes, weapon mod behaviour was corrected to function as intended, improving combat consistency.
Campaign Progression and Reward Fixes
For players focusing on the story, the patch fixes several bugs that prevented War Journal entries and achievements from tracking properly. The Coalition noted that missing collectibles and rewards cannot be automatically restored; instead, players must revisit available missions to reacquire those items and in-game rewards such as skins and titles.
This update represents the developer’s ongoing commitment to refine the game post-launch, addressing both technical issues and gameplay features. The Coalition’s responsiveness highlights a focus on maintaining the player experience across all supported devices.
Gears of War: E-Day remains available on Xbox consoles, PC, and supporting handheld platforms. The Ranked Versus mode and patch are already live, ensuring players can access these improvements immediately.
