Moore wants to make you ‘sweat’

EA are jumping on the Wii Fit band-wagon and are working on a new fitness game that will utilise the balance board.

Peter Moore, the EA Sports president announced the title at a three-day EA Sports showcase over in Canada. Speaking to the press he said:

“We’re watching very closely what the Wii Fit board does, we think we have to have a role to play with that mum – the kids have gone to school, she’s got 45 minutes on her own, the Wii is there, it’s the first console she’s ever liked because she can do things herself. And we’re working on stuff, trying to work out how we can use EA Sports applications there.”

The president also said that the focus on EA products for the Wii balance board would be on strenuous fun rather than the ‘eastern fitness’ approach adopted by Nintendo which is slower and less painful. Moore firmly believes that we should be getting a sweat on while we exercise and assist weight loss.

The game has a yet to be announced title and will be published under the new EA Sports Freestyle brand which has replaced the ‘BIG’ brand down the years with titles such as SSX being labelled under this. The first game to be released under the new publishing arm will be Facebreaker, a cartoon boxing game due later this year.
