2K Games has today dropped PR company The Redner Group after the firms outburst towards the press who have slated the new Duke Nukem Forever since it’s release.
Jim Redner, founder of The Redner Group tweeted his displeasure at the press reaction to the game saying, “Too many went too far with their reviews…we are reviewing who gets games next time and who doesn’t based on today’s venom.” This tweet also suggested that some media outlets would be blacklisted due to negative scoring.
Redner continued by saying, “Bad scores are fine. Venom filled reviews…that’s completely different,” before deleting both posts and apologising publically, saying he “acted out of pure emotion” and that he wasn’t speaking for 2K.
Sadly Redner had already dealth the finishing blow with his early tweets and 2K confirmed via Twitter that it would be dropping The Redner Group. “2K Games does not endorse or condone the comments made by TheRednerGroup and confirm they no longer represent our products,”
They continued by adding, “We maintain a mutually respectful relationship with the press and will continue to do so. We don’t condone @TheRednerGroup’s actions at all.”
Since it’s release Duke Nukem Forever has only managed an average score of 51% on the Xbox 360 and 65% on the PS3, after 14 years in development gamers expected so much more.
