Since March, the 360 has become the cheapest console in the next gen war. The Arcade package, formerly known as the Core package, weighs in at a light-on-the-wallet £159.99 after the price cut whereas the Wii, the ex-cheapest console, is still at £179.99. The Elite and the Premium versions now cost £199.99 and £259.99 respectively meaning they’ve both been cut by £40.
Since the price cut last month, Microsoft are reporting that sales of the console have doubled. However, they are not willing to show us the sales figures for Europe after and before the price cut for comparison. All they had to say was this,
“Xbox 360 is truly the next-generation console of choice among consumers, and today’s numbers are proof that we are delivering on our commitment to achieve critical mass in Europe.”
Microsoft were also willing to tell us that the console holds 42% of the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) market, which is a hefty amount.
