The next major update for the Xbox 360 won’t happen until later in the year now. Aaron Greenberg told Eurogamer in an interview that ‘mini-updates will take place instead’.
With the New Xbox Experience, it makes the console easier to update.
“The great benefit of the design is that we’re able to add new features, new channels and things like that pretty quickly. So yeah, you’ll see us do more regular updates throughout the year,” Greenberg said.
Microsoft have done away with the spring update and autumn update rota. Instead they will perform smaller updates during the year:
“We will definitely package some things together, but we haven’t specifically committed to doing just two big updates,” Greenberg added.
“We want to add new features when they’re ready. Then, for holiday perhaps, we’ll do something big. But exactly how that will work remains to be seen.
Primetime is one of the big updates which will see game show 1 Vs. 100 added, allowing you to play live with other Xbox Live members around the world. However Greenberg would not give specific dates for the release of this and some of the other goodies.
The same interview also revealed that Microsoft plans more games and content during 2009 but with announcements likely at E3 2009.
