Activision has today filed a complaint against the owners of domain name ModernWarfare3.com which was seen redirecting to Battlefield 3’s website.
They have filed it’s first ever domain name dispute with the National Arbitration Forum and has paid $2600 to file for a three member panel.
The domain no longer re-directs to Battlefield 3, instead it displays a rather less than inspiring statement saying, “the copy and paste sequel to the lackluster Modern Warfare 2,” and slates its e3 campaign demo an “epic fail”.
Activision has stated that the ModernWarfare3.com is being used to support one of it’s “principal competitors” (well that’s a no brainer).
“EA is one of Complainant’s principal competitors in the video game industry, and Battlefield game competes in the marketplace with Complainant’s MODERN WARFARE games and its other military-themed shooter games in the CALL OF DUTY series.”
