Blade, Loki, and Deadpool Join the Samurai Outriders
Arc System Works has officially revealed Blade, Loki, and Deadpool as the final additions to MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, completing the Samurai Outriders team alongside Ghost Rider. This announcement took place during EVO 2026 and signals the inclusion of three iconic antiheroes with distinct playstyles ahead of the game’s launch on PlayStation 5 and PC.
Blade, voiced by Imari Williams, brings a vampire-hunting focus with a combat style centred around his demon-slaying Muramasa sword and a mix of firearms and glaives. His moves include Heartstopper, a stake throw that immobilises opponents, enabling aggressive close-range attacks. Producer Takeshi Yamanaka noted Blade’s enhanced physical and mental strength after rigorous training in Japan.
Loki (voiced by Jason Spisak), known for his trickery, offers a deceptive and illusion-based combat approach. His fighting style revolves around feints, counters, and projectile ice magic, emphasising unpredictability and tactical disruption. Players controlling Loki will need to balance his risky behaviours, as exposure to his tricks can result in punishment during combat.
Deadpool, voiced by Nolan North, features a combat style reflecting his regenerative capabilities and chaotic personality. Alongside conventional weapons like guns, grenades, and swords, Deadpool utilises high-risk techniques that involve self-damage. An intriguing gameplay element is his access to a meta game strategy guide, which allows him to execute moves inspired by famous fighting games.
New Asgard Stage Debuts
The update also showcases a new battleground: Asgard. Known as the realm of the gods within the Marvel Universe, Asgard’s stage in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls includes five distinct areas—the Observatory, Bifrost Bridge, Throne Room, Treasure Vault, and Yggdrasil, the World Tree. This stage merges magical and technological aesthetics, providing a thematic setting for battles, especially relevant for characters like Loki.
Asgard’s inclusion adds significant variety, with multiple interactive zones offering strategic depth while remaining visually faithful to its lore. Players on PS5 and PC can expect this new stage to be integral to the meta once the game launches.
Open Beta Scheduled for July on PS5 and PC
Ahead of release, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls will hold a global open beta from 24 to 26 July (Pacific Time) on PlayStation 5 and PC. This beta will feature Blade as a playable character, providing an early opportunity for players to try out one of the newly revealed fighters. Participation requires a PlayStation account on PS5.
Additional deep dive character trailers are planned to be released before launch, providing details on individual fighting styles, abilities, and assist types. These resources aim to assist players in mastering characters and tailoring their playstyles. The developer encourages fans to explore these materials ahead of the game’s full availability.
This expansion of the roster with Blade, Loki, and Deadpool, combined with the new Asgard stage and upcoming beta, marks a significant step in finalising the game’s content for launch. The announcements hold particular relevance for PlayStation 5 players, given the timing of the open beta and ongoing support from the developer.
