BR1 Infinite Pays Players Per Kill but Raises Gambling and Cheating Concerns

BR1 Infinite, a new extraction shooter developed by Bravo Ready Studios, is attracting attention for its real-money payment system that rewards players with cash for every in-game kill. According to reports from Polygon, the game pays players $1 (approximately £0.75) per kill and offers an hourly earning rate of $10 (£7.41). However, players must pay $1 (£0.75) to spawn into each match, creating a financial risk if they perform poorly.

The game is currently in an invite-only beta phase and is limited to PC. Bravo Ready Studios, known for its background in gambling and consumer technology, is reportedly supported by investors including Krafton, the publisher of PUBG, Solana Ventures, and 6MV. The monetisation system in BR1 Infinite emphasizes maintaining a positive kill/death ratio, looting cash drops, and trading operatives and cosmetic skins.

Concerns Over Legitimacy and Cheating Risks

BR1 Infinite’s real-money mechanics have sparked concerns about gambling-like elements and potential for cheating. Enforcement against boosting, cheating, and other exploits is a significant question given reports that the shooter offers relatively basic gameplay, with players controlling droids or ape characters on simple maps. Despite these issues, the game’s Discord community reportedly has around 40,000 members.

Additionally, there appears to be no clear age verification or gating mechanisms in place, raising further issues about the accessibility of the game’s pay-to-play system by underage players. This absence of safeguards is notable given the potential financial risks involved.

Development and Community Details

Bravo Ready Studios has a lengthy social media history dating back to 2011, with multiple rebrands before releasing games more actively from 2022 onwards. The studio claims to have paid out more than $100,000 in test-phase earnings to players who were granted free spawns during testing, suggesting an initial controlled rollout of the real-money system.

BR1 Infinite’s recent surge in visibility appears to be the first major wave of attention for the project, which has existed in some form for several years but only recently begun gaining significant traction among players and observers in the gaming community.
