Sega has announced a closed network test for its upcoming Crazy Taxi: World Tour, offering the first opportunity for players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S to experience the game’s competitive multiplayer. The test is scheduled for a limited period between 11th and 13th September.
Players interested in participating must sign up by 31st August. Eligibility extends to those aged 13 and older, with sign-ups limited to specific countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and several others. Selected participants will receive instructions by email on how to access the test.
Multiplayer Modes and Test Details
The closed network session will focus exclusively on online multiplayer features, with no single-player or story content available. Two multiplayer modes will be available during the test: Pickup Race and Cops ‘N’ Cabbies. Pickup Race is a six-player free-for-all where competitors aim to drop off as many passengers as possible within a time limit. Cops ‘N’ Cabbies is a team-based mode pitting two groups against each other.
Both modes will support ranked play. Players can also create custom lobbies with personalised rules. The playable content during the test includes two maps, six cars, four characters, and a selection of car tune-up options.
Platform Availability and System Requirements
The test will be accessible on PC via Steam and the Xbox app, in addition to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. Sega has provided minimum and recommended PC specifications on the official sign-up page, though it notes these may not represent the requirements of the final game.
Crazy Taxi: World Tour was first announced in June 2026, attracting attention for its use of generative AI during development, a point clarified by series creator Kenji Kanno as limited to reference material rather than core content.
This closed network test marks the first hands-on occasion for console and PC players to engage with Crazy Taxi: World Tour’s multiplayer ahead of its full release.
