If there’s one thing that really does seem like a bit of a waste of money on Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network, it’s custom themes. Colour me impressed then with Sony’s announcement today of a downloadable tool to that can be used to create your very own for your PlayStation 3.
The software tool, apparently used by Sony in house, allows you not only to create backgrounds, but also toolbars and icon styles for the XMB – all you need is a little bit of artistic talent and a PC to run it on – the best bit of all is, it’s free!
The software tool is downloadable here, but also make sure you check out the posting from Wael Naguib, one of the Online Designers at Sony, on the official EU PlayStation blog for a tutorial to get you started.
Will Microsoft shortly be following suit? I wouldn’t hold your breath.
