Epic and EA extend Unreal Engine contract

Epic and Electronic Arts are expanding their licensing agreement so that EA will be able to use Unreal Engine 3 for more than five new games.

Previous EA games that have used the engine are Medal of Honor Airborne and Army of Two. The original contract to use the Unreal Engine 3 was signed back in 2006. EA is not revealing at this time which games will be using Unreal Engine 3 in the future. Commenting on how important this is to EA Frank Gibeau, President at EA had this to say:

“With the largest and most talented studio operation in the world, it’s critical for us to give our studio teams the best tools they need to make great games.”
