Gears of War 3 will launch on Xbox 360 this September according to Microsoft, who has confirmed a September 20 global release date for Epic Games’ hotly-anticipated shooter.
The game will feature four-player campaign co-op, as well as a new multiplayer game type, ‘Beast Mode,’ in which players assume the role of the locust horde.
Microsoft also confirmed four new maps this morning, including: “Trenches, which features an impressive sand storm that reduces your visibility, as well as Overpass, Mercy, Checkout, and Thrashball”.
The Redmond-based company also announced a handful of tasty new weapons, including: “The Bayonet Charge, The Retro Lancer, The Sawed-off Shotgun, The OneShot – a heavy sniper rifle that shoots through shields or cover for a surprise one shot kill, The Incendiary Grenade, The Digger Launcher and a few subtle tweaks to old favourites Hammerburst and The Classic Lancer”.
And yes, each weapon arrives with its very own execution move.
