Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition Adds Jin Sakai to Most Wanted Roguelike Mode

During the latest State of Play broadcast, Sony and developer Sucker Punch Productions unveiled new details of Most Wanted, the roguelike mode featured in Ghost of Yōtei: Complete Edition. The presentation highlighted the addition of Jin Sakai, the protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima, as a playable character in this mode.

Most Wanted now features four playable characters: Atsu, Oyuki, Nagato, and the newly added Jin Sakai. Jin’s inclusion brings his full complement of combat stances from the original game into the roguelike mode. Unlike Atsu, who is available from the start, Jin and the other characters require unlocking through gameplay.

The mode itself is a single-player, combat-focused endurance challenge where players accept escalating bounty contracts against members of the Yōtei Six. Each contract involves progressing through waves of enemies culminating in a boss fight. Defeating waves grants perks that can be equipped to enhance the character’s abilities for continued runs. Once a player dies, the run ends, adhering to traditional roguelike mechanics.

Players earn an in-game currency called Mon during runs, which can be spent outside of missions to unlock new techniques, charms, and weapon upgrades. Some of these upgrades are purely cosmetic and can be applied in the game’s main campaign or its Echoes of Sekigahara expansion.

Sucker Punch emphasised that Most Wanted builds directly on Ghost of Yōtei’s core combat systems, offering a fresh experience that encourages experimenting with different characters and builds. Each character starts with a katana but possesses unique weapon options, abilities, and ultimate moves.

Ghost of Yōtei: Complete Edition, which includes the base game and the Echoes of Sekigahara expansion, is due to launch exclusively for PS5 on 1st October. Existing owners can purchase the Complete Edition upgrade for £11.99 / $14.99 to access the new content and mode.
