Polyarc has launched Moss: The Forgotten Relic on PlayStation 5, delivering a reimagined edition of the Moss series that does not require a VR headset. The new release combines the original Moss, its sequel Moss: Book II, and the Twilight Garden expansion into a single title available from July 16.
This edition brings enhanced visuals and updated cinematic camera systems tailored for the PS5 hardware. It emphasises a traditional gameplay experience by removing the VR requirement, thus broadening access to players unfamiliar or unable to use virtual reality on PlayStation.
Non-VR Experience Brings Moss to a Wider Audience
Moss originally made its name as a VR adventure focused on a tiny mouse named Quill. In The Forgotten Relic version, players take on the role of the “Reader,” a guiding presence who interacts closely with Quill throughout her journey. The game blends environmental puzzles, exploration, and narrative elements designed to deepen the bond between player and protagonist.
According to Polyarc, the PS5 adaptation preserves the emotional core of the series while enhancing the storybook-style presentation and atmosphere. Player interaction involves moving obstacles and supporting Quill as she navigates ancient ruins and threats in her world.
The release aims to reach new players as well as returning fans by offering a cinematic and refined experience on Sony’s latest console. Moss: The Forgotten Relic can be added to PlayStation 5 wishlists ahead of its availability on July 16.
Relevance for PlayStation 5 Players
The launch is significant for PS5 owners interested in narrative-driven single-player games with strong character interaction but who may not own PlayStation VR2 hardware. By decoupling the Moss experience from VR, the game provides an accessible option without sacrificing visual fidelity or story elements.
No information has been provided at this time about availability on other platforms, including Xbox or Nintendo systems. The announcement and release currently apply exclusively to PlayStation 5.
