Naughty Dog is reportedly working on a new Uncharted game that will feature series protagonist Nathan Drake in some capacity, according to a report from MP1st. The project is described as a fresh entry rather than a remake, representing the studio’s next major game following the release of Intergalactic.
Details remain scarce about Nathan Drake’s role in the upcoming title, with MP1st indicating it is unclear whether he will serve as the lead character, play a supporting role, or just make a cameo appearance. The game is understood to be led by Shaun Escayag, the creative director behind Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a standalone expansion to Uncharted 4.
Project Leadership and Development Timeline
Escayag has reportedly been involved in research early in the year, including a visit to Trinidad, sparking interest around the new game’s setting and themes. Naughty Dog has formally confirmed a preview of Intergalactic, their sci-fi project, is planned for 2027, so the Uncharted title is expected to release after this.
The new Uncharted game comes nearly a decade after Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, which concluded Nathan Drake’s story arc but left room for future adventures. The presence of Drake’s daughter Cassie, who shares her father’s adventurous interests, may also figure into the new storyline, though this remains unconfirmed.
Related Naughty Dog Projects
Alongside the new Uncharted game, Naughty Dog continues to work on multiple Last of Us projects beyond the established HBO television adaptation. Neil Druckmann, the series creator, has not clarified the formats of these projects, leaving open possibilities including games, films or other media.
While no release window has been officially confirmed for the new Uncharted game, the information aligns with Naughty Dog’s recent development focus following Intergalactic. The project is being closely watched by console players on PlayStation platforms, given the franchise’s history as a PlayStation exclusive.
