Microsoft today revealed a list of arcade titles currently on their way to the Xbox Live Marketplace.
The games are listed below:
Gyruss is a shoot-em-up video arcade game developed by Konami, and released in 1983. Yoshiki Okamoto was the designer of the game. The game was licensed to Centuri in the United States. It follows in the tradition of space war games such as Space Invaders and Galaga.
Rush’n Attack (known as Green Beret outside the US) is an action/platform arcade game released by Konami in 1985, and later ported to other systems, the most well known version for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The game is remembered for its Cold War setting, titular pun (“Russian Attack”), and its reliance on the player using a knife to dispatch enemies. The sequel to Rush’n Attack is M.I.A.: Missing in Action, which was released a year later.
Ms. Pac-Man is a popular arcade game released by Midway in 1981. The sequel to Pac-Man, it is considered by some fans to be superior to its predecessor. It was also one of the more successful of early arcade games as its sales record is still unmatched
New Rally-X is an arcade game that was released by Namco in 1981. It runs on Namco Pac-Man hardware and, as the name suggests, is the sequel to Rally-X, which was released in the previous year. The only differences are that it has slightly enhanced graphics, easier gameplay, a new soundtrack and a “Lucky Flag” that gives you extra points if you collect it. It was made in greater numbers and was much more popular (at least in Japan) than the original.
Dig Dug is an arcade game released by Namco in 1982. A popular game based on a simple concept, it was also available as a home video game available on many consoles, and had many arcade and home clones. Dig Dug runs on Namco Galaga hardware.
There is no word on release dates, but we’ll let you know as soon as they are revealed.
