In an interview with IGN, a Microsoft spokesman denied completly that Xbox 360’s could or would have a HD-DVD drive in them in the future.
Quoting direct from the spokesman:
“Microsoft, in both America and Japan, has not announced anything regarding the possibility of a next generation DVD drive being placed in the Xbox 360. There are currently no plans to release an Xbox 360 equipped with a next generation DVD player.”
Toshiba earlier announced that HD-DVD will not be released untill after the new year in Japan, pushing them ever closer to the Blu-Ray disc release date, which will be utilised on the Playstation 3 next spring.
