Speaking during the it’s investor conference call yesterday Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft CEO, has revealed that Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has been delayed. The main reason is due to this fall being to crowded and thus producing more competition than the game can handle.
Already this is maybe not the best sign for a game that was meant to hit stores back in April 2010, a year late and still counting. If anything it would have been nice to pit Future Soldier against ModernWarfare 3, Battlefield 3 and even Skyrim and see which title came out on top. Obviously though it seems Ubisoft may not have as much faith in the newest Ghost Recon.
Yves was quoted as saying, “It will be released in fiscal Q4 as we want first to have the best quality possible, as well as to avoid the very crowded Christmas landscape in the shooter genre. Due to a very competitive environment we’ve decided to move the game out of the Christmas quarter into the march quarter,” he said. “It will also provide more time to our development teams to realise their ambition.”
Sadly it seems we will have to wait even longer, in fact the game won’t hit stores until nearly two years after it’s original release date. Bar any further delays Ghost Recon: Future Soldier should eventually be released in Q1 of 2012.
