Ubisoft hoping to avoid PETA controversy in Far Cry 4

Ubisoft has taken extra care with Far Cry 4 to avoid controversy from animal rights organisation PETA.

Speaking to ArabicGamers, creative director Alex Hutchinson said that slaughtering animals in the game was the player’s choice and that there are no rewards for killing elephants in the upcoming title.

Hutchinson said: “I hope PETA are aware that it’s a game and not a documentary, so I think we’re safe on that front.

“There are upgrade paths to do with the animals, but there are very few times when you’re forced in the game to hunt or kill an animal. I think it’s in there as a sort of player expression, how much you want to do it or which animals you might spare.”

Far Cry 4 launches on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on November 18th, 2014.
