Microsoft has revealed the latest lineup of games coming to Xbox and PC Game Pass throughout the latter part of August. Key additions include Asobo Studio’s Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Blood Dungeon from Messhof, both set to arrive on the service with day-one availability.
Resonance: A Plague Tale serves as a prequel to the original series and is distinguished from its predecessors by shifting away from stealth mechanics in favour of a more combat-focused approach. The title’s narrative unfolds across dual timelines on the island of Crete, with gameplay incorporating exploration of ancient ruins, puzzle elements, and set-piece moments reminiscent of Tomb Raider and Uncharted.
Blood Dungeon, developed by Messhof, the creator of the swashbuckling local co-op game Nidhogg, introduces a Metroidvania-style format. Its arrival expands Game Pass offerings for fans seeking new action-platformer experiences.
Additional Game Pass Additions and Departures
The August update also includes several other releases: Egging On launched on 18 August for Game Pass Premium, while Vapor World: Over the Mind entered Game Preview on 19 August. BlazBlue Entropy Effect X, Relooted, and Starsand Island also joined the service from 19 and 20 August respectively.
Later entries in the month see Aerial_Knight’s DropShot and Blood Dungeon added on 25 August, followed by Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on 27 August, and Young Suns on 31 August. Shelldiver is scheduled for 1 September.
In terms of departures, several titles will leave Game Pass on 31 August, including Another Crab’s Treasure, I Am Your Beast, Neon Abyss, and One Lonely Outpost. Most notably, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered Edition will exit the service on 6 September, ahead of its upcoming expansion.
Platform Availability and Service Details
All newly added games will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and via the cloud, with some titles also optimised for handheld play on compatible devices. Resonance: A Plague Tale, in particular, offers wide platform support, including Xbox and PC Game Pass across both Ultimate and Premium tiers where specified.
This update maintains Game Pass’s role as a diverse library for Xbox and PC gamers through the inclusion of various genres and play styles, while marking the departure of longer-standing titles to make way for new content.
