Sonic 4 against cheaters

Gaming cheaters are getting far too common, and thankfully SEGA are taking steps to ruin their idea of fun. As is common with games that hold highscores, certain players have been achieving track times of 0 seconds and scores of 99999990, something which is too difficult for even the best of gamers. SEGA have stepped in a wiped clean the leaderboards, which unfortunately have included all legitimate results…

“It’s not a long-term solution, but while we look into what options there are to combat this effectively for good, I think it’s very important to do what we can in the short-term, too.”, stated SEGA’s forum administrator RubyEclipse.

“Be patient, guys – we’re working on it, but an effective solution is not something that can be rushed.”

I’m certainly pleased that they are working to fix the issue, as it’s a change of pace from the majority of publishers ignoring such hackery. The question stands though, is removing cheaters worth losing legitimate achievements? Would you be pleased, or annoyed, at having one of your games highscores reset?
