Microsoft is planning to quadruple the accuracy of its motion-sensing add-on Kinect so that it could detect finger movement and full hand rotation – that’s according to a recentEurogamerreport.
Apparently, the platform holder is said to beworking “very hard” on a firmware update that will allow a greater amount of data to pass through Kinect to the Xbox 360 console.
Kinect’s depth sensor is currently set at 30 frames per second with a 320×240 resolution limit, but a firmware update may be able to boost the device’s resolution to 640×480, the website suggests.
Microsoft has yet to confirm the authenticity of these reports, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
