Sony has announced that pre-orders for God of War Laufey on PlayStation 5 will open on September 29. The latest entry from Santa Monica Studio is scheduled for release on 16 February 2027. This news is particularly relevant for PlayStation owners preparing for one of next year’s major exclusives.
The publisher has outlined the contents of pre-order bonuses alongside the Digital Deluxe Edition for the game. Players who pre-order will receive a Last Wish Armour Set, a Phranque Golden Leaves cosmetic appearance, as well as an in-game resource pack. These items will be available through a download code for the physical Standard Edition or directly via digital purchase.
Details of Digital Deluxe Edition and New Gameplay Features
The Digital Deluxe Edition includes several exclusive items: a Dark Alchemy Armour Set, Dark Alchemy Blade, Dark Alchemy Bow Scales, Dark Alchemy Catalyst, an in-game resource pack, a digital mini artbook, and the official God of War Laufey digital soundtrack. These additions provide expanded options to customise Faye’s combat style and gear within the game.
A notable gameplay feature introduced is Faye’s Serpent Bow. This weapon can switch rapidly between a dormant state and a fully notched form, enabling both close-quarters and ranged combat. The Serpent Bow has two firing modes: a precision full-aim trigger that allows for charged shots with up to five stacked arrows, and a hip-fire half-aim for rapid, close-range attacks.
The bow also supports multiple arrow types, including rapid fire and explosive options, alongside various equippable ‘Scales’ that alter its appearance and provide distinct gameplay perks. Some Scales, such as the Dark Alchemy Bow Scales, are part of the Digital Deluxe Edition. Faye’s combat abilities will also be supported by customizable gear elements like armour, blades and Catalysts, each contributing unique effects and player strategies.
Release Schedule and Platform Relevance
God of War Laufey is confirmed for PlayStation 5 only, with no information currently available regarding other platforms. The February 16, 2027 launch date places it early in the year’s release calendar for PS5 exclusive titles. Pre-orders going live on September 29 give players ample time to secure editions and plan for launch. Access to the pre-order bonuses requires a PlayStation Network account and internet connection.
The details confirm Sony and Santa Monica Studio’s ongoing focus on delivering content-rich exclusive experiences for the PS5. As the game approaches release, further updates from the studio are expected to provide additional insight into gameplay, story elements, and post-launch plans.
For now, the confirmed launch date and edition contents establish God of War Laufey as a significant upcoming title exclusively for PlayStation 5 owners in early 2027.
