Crimson Moon, the gothic action RPG from Probably Monsters, will launch on PlayStation 5 on September 1, Sony announced. The game invites players to fight demonic corruption in the fallen city of Gildenarch as powerful Nephilim warriors.
Designed with both solo and co-op play in mind, Crimson Moon features dynamic difficulty scaling for its hunts and boss battles based on the number of players. The title supports two-player online co-op, allowing players to coordinate strategies and share a communal life pool during missions.
Co-op in Crimson Moon is more than damage multiplication; every encounter adjusts challenge levels to keep gameplay balanced whether tackling it alone or with a partner. If a player falls during combat, their teammate can revive them, but repeated deaths edge the team closer to failure, adding tension to cooperative sessions.
PlayStation 5 Enhancements and Editions
Probably Monsters confirmed that Crimson Moon has been optimised for PlayStation 5 hardware. Those with a PlayStation 5 Pro benefit from upgraded Progressive Sampled Soft Shadows (PSSR), enhancing visual fidelity during exploration and combat in the dark city environments.
The game will be available in two editions on launch day. The standard edition is priced at $19.99, while the Deluxe Edition costs $29.99 and includes additional cosmetic gear such as the Ceremonial Armor Set, the Axe of the Gods guitar-shaped weapon, plus access to a forthcoming post-launch content expansion. Players can also upgrade from the standard to the Deluxe Edition later via a $10 upgrade purchase.
Exclusive Content and Replayability
At launch, all PlayStation 5 players will receive the exclusive Sonai Magistrate Armor Set regardless of the edition purchased. Crimson Moon’s RPG nature encourages repeated playthroughs, experimentation with different builds, and cooperative tactics across progressively challenging Wards within Gildenarch.
The title’s release on September 1 marks the beginning of a new cooperative hunt experience on PlayStation 5, emphasising teamwork and skill against a backdrop of gothic dark fantasy.
