Gears of War: E-Day Goes Gold Ahead of October Launch on Xbox and PC

Gears of War: E-Day has officially gone gold, as announced by Mike Crump, Studio Head at The Coalition. This milestone confirms the game is ready for manufacturing and digital release, setting the stage for its upcoming Early Access and global launch. The news impacts players on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and Steam platforms ahead of the game’s release in early October.

The Coalition revealed that pre-installation for Gears of War: E-Day will start on September 29 at 8am Pacific Time (15:00 UTC) across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and Steam. This applies to both Game Pass subscribers and those who pre-ordered the title, ensuring players can download the files ahead of time for a smooth start. Early Access begins on October 1 at 8am Pacific, with the worldwide launch following on October 6 at the same time.

Early Access and Premium Edition Details

Players who purchase the Premium Edition of Gears of War: E-Day gain early access, allowing them to start playing up to five days before the general launch. The Premium Edition includes the base game, up to five days of early access, the Bravo Squad Signature Weapon Pack, five seasonal customisation packs beginning with the Emergence Pack at launch, and 1,000 Iron, the game’s premium currency.

The game’s narrative is set fourteen years prior to the original Gears of War, focusing on the outbreak known as Emergence Day. It features a campaign with cooperative play options, Horde Siege, and Versus multiplayer modes. Horde Siege arrives expanded with larger maps and support for multiple squads, while Versus offers refined 4v4 matches with updated movement mechanics.

PC Specifications and Platform Availability

The Coalition also shared the complete PC specifications ahead of launch, following months of optimisation since the Multiplayer Open Beta in July. The game is built on Unreal Engine 5, targeting 4K resolution and up to 60FPS across campaign and multiplayer modes. No specific hardware requirements were detailed in the announcement, but the final specifications aim to support a broad range of PC configurations.

Gears of War: E-Day will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and Steam. It is included day-one with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, providing subscribers immediate access upon launch. Pre-orders are live via the official Gears of War website.

With pre-install beginning September 29 and Early Access from October 1, players should prepare their devices to deploy as soon as the game becomes available. The global launch on October 6 will open the title to all Game Pass members and retail buyers alike.
