Grand Theft Auto 6 Pricing Confirmed for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 Ahead of November Release

Rockstar Games has officially revealed the pricing for Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 ahead of its November launch. The standard edition is priced at $79.99 in the United States, £69.99 in the UK, and €79.99 across Europe. The Ultimate Edition, which includes additional in-game content tied to the story of Jason and Lucia, will retail for $99.99, £89.99, and €99.99 respectively.

The announced price point represents roughly a $10 increase over the pricing that has been typical for major titles on these current-generation platforms. Pre-orders began at midnight local time on June 25, with physical copies slated for release on November 12 to enable pre-loading ahead of the official launch date set for November 19.

Pre-Order Incentives and Launch Details

Rockstar is offering a Vintage Vice City Pack as a pre-order bonus, available to players who purchase the game before November 20. This pack features content inspired by the classic Grand Theft Auto: Vice City title. Physical editions of the game will include a code for digital activation, adhering to common release practices in the industry to streamline access on launch day.

Significantly, Rockstar has confirmed that GTA Online will not be part of the initial GTA 6 release. The game will launch as a single-player experience, with no online multiplayer mode available at launch. This departure from previous entries in the series could impact how players engage with the game across Xbox and PlayStation platforms.

Industry and Legal Developments

The pricing news arrives amid ongoing legal scrutiny of Rockstar Games in the UK, where the company faces allegations from the Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain concerning its treatment of staff and alleged union-busting activities. An employment tribunal recently rejected Rockstar’s attempt to dismiss blacklisting claims, with the case scheduled for trial in September. This legal backdrop highlights challenges within the industry around labour practices.

For console players, the $79.99/£69.99 price represents a noticeable step up in standard game pricing, aligning with a broader trend among publishers signalling an upward adjustment for premium releases on Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Subscription services such as Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus have yet to confirm whether GTA 6 will be available in their line-ups at or near launch.
