The powers that be over in the States have today given the go-ahead for Microsoft to purchase Skype for a whopping $8.5billion. With that you could buy one year’s food for fourty two million cats and dogs.
The Federal Trade Commission approved the deal on Friday giving Microsoft the chance to begin integrating Skype into it’s many other products.
Amazingly Skype has never made a true profit and yet boasts 145million users. The main reason for the purchase is for it’s capability with the Kinect and also boosting Microsofts ownage of the instant messaging market, now standing in at 60%.
No one yet knows what MS will do with Skype, but rest assured LIVE users will be seeing Skype pop up in an update in the not to distant future.
