Team Ninja has announced that Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will launch on 4 March 2027 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The sequel to the 2023 action-soulslike will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Alongside the release date, a free alpha demo is currently live on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, accessible until 30 September. This demo offers players the chance to experience an early build of the game, including an in-progress character creator and online multiplayer for up to three players.
Demo Features and Content Details
The demo lets players explore the open field of Changban, a battleground where Liu Bei’s army fights against the forces of Cao Cao. It also introduces demons inspired by Chinese mythology, continuing the direction set by the original game’s setting rooted in legendary Chinese folklore.
Completion of the demo rewards players with the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet cosmetic, usable in the full game upon its release. This incentive is aimed at encouraging engagement with the demo before it expires later this month.
Platform Availability and Subscription Impact
Wo Long 2 is launching across multiple major platforms, including the PC and next-generation consoles from Sony and Microsoft. Its inclusion on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate from day one means subscribers gain immediate access to the full game upon release, underlining Microsoft’s continued investment in expanding its Game Pass offerings with new exclusive titles.
The Nintendo Switch 2 version marks one of the early major releases confirmed for Nintendo’s next hardware, although further details about performance or features on the platform have not yet been clarified.
The original Wo Long, released in early 2023, received praise for its combat mechanics and was notable within the soulslike genre. Team Ninja announced Wo Long 2 earlier this year during the Xbox Showcase, continuing their collaboration with Microsoft for the franchise’s new entry.
